May is Kid Power Month when we celebrate the unique power that kids have to make a difference in their world!
That’s why for this year’s Kid Power Month, we’re taking you on a mission to meet Nyede in her home country of Mozambique. Neyde is a child reporter for Radio Xia-Xia, a radio channel that broadcasts news in four different languages.
With our new mission, Mozambique with Neyde, kids can step into Neyde’s shoes and learn about her radio show and daily life. Here are some things you can find in the new mission:
- A new video that shows the impact of Neyde’s child-to-child radio show
- A step-by-step lesson plan with handouts on writing a radio show script, which you can easily turn into a morning announcement script
- A kinesthetic activity that strengthens kids’ minds and bodies
- Games that take you to Mozambique or emphasize the collaborative nature of sports
You can download the new mission by grade level:
Mozambique with Neyde: Grades 3-5
Mozambique with Neyde: Grades 6-8
But that’s not all.. we also have a new edition of ACT Magazine!
ACT is UNICEF USA’s magazine for Kids Helping Kids®, with content that empowers youth to make a positive impact.
Throughout the Spring 2018 edition of ACT, students will be whisked away to Mozambique and other countries where kids host their own radio shows, and they’ll also get an up-close interview with Fencing World Champion Ibtihaj Muhammad.
Perhaps most important, the latest edition of ACT captures the stories of some incredible UNICEF Kid Power teams that are making a difference both in their communities and around the world. Talk about showing the world your Kid Power!
So what are you waiting for?
